Teens with problematic smartphone use are twice as likely to have anxiety – and many are eager to cut down

Two new studies of smartphone habits in teenagers have identified links between problematic smartphone use (PSU) and depression, anxiety and insomnia. The research revealed that one in eight young people want help to reduce their smartphone use.

As part of NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC)’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy we have appointed 14 representatives to support our work. The NIHR Maudsley BRC themes and core programmes each have an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) lead researcher. Over £1.4 million awarded to King's researchers to accelerate MND treatment development

Three projects led by researchers at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) have received MND Translational Accelerator awards totalling £1.47 million to fund research into Motor Neuron Disease (MND).

New home-administered treatment for binge eating disorder shows promising results

Researchers from the Insitute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King’s College London have investigated the feasibility of a new home-administered treatment for binge eating disorder. The new treatment combines a gentle brain stimulation technique called transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) with a training programme that targets unhelpful patterns of attention around food.

New software to help predict individuals' genetic risk of health conditions

The new GenoPred pipeline enables researchers to easily calculate an individual’s likelihood of different health-related outcomes, such as disease and disorders or response to treatment, based on their genetics.
