UK funders invest £4.25 million into new eating disorders research

More than £4 million in new eating disorders research funding has been announced today, thanks to an investment by UK funders including the Medical Research Foundation.

Antidepressants prescription associated with a lower risk of testing positive for COVID-19

New research led by the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) and supported by NIHR Maudsley BRC has found that community mental health patients who were prescribed antidepressants were significantly less likely to test positive for COVID-19 when admitted to inpatient care.

Working with students and teachers to evaluate secondary school stress workshops

June Brown is the lead for Brief Evaluation of Stress Workshops in Secondary Schools (BESST) and a reader/associate professor in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London. In this blog she describes how a small pilot with schools in South London has now led to a national clinical trial funded by the NIHR with 900 students across 57 schools.
