We are delighted to share that the King's Clinical Research Facility (CRF) have been shortlisted as a finalist in the first ever King's Inclusion Awards. These awards, hosted by King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, aim to showcase the individuals across the organisation who are taking inclusion and diversity to the next level.

Shortlisted as finalists in the 'Advancing Race Equality' category, this award champions an individual or team who have taken action to remove barriers and create an inclusive culture for ethnic minority colleagues, or who have delivered patient care which is inclusive to individuals of all ethnic minority backgrounds.

Working collaboratively with the Trust's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team and CRF Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) members, we developed training for staff around cultural intelligence, trans awareness and raising concerns, with future sessions on health inequalities planned. This work has also been showcased in abstracts and posters at two national conferences.

Dani, CRF Lead Nurse and Cat, CRF PPI Lead (pictured left to right), said: “We’re so pleased to be a finalist in the King's Inclusion Awards and we're incredibly proud of the work we’ve accomplished to advance race equality in the CRF.

"Through our partnership with the Trust’s EDI team and our diverse PPI members, we’ve delivered essential training to all CRF staff, giving them the tools to understand and prioritise race equality when recruiting and caring for our research participants."

Winners will be announced at an award ceremony on Wednesday 25 September.
