Data linkage group - your help needed

Would you like to help shape our research?

We are looking for new members to join a Service User and Carer Advisory Group which focuses on research projects using data linkage involving mental health data.

Data linkage is a process which temporarily brings together, or ‘links’, two or more sets of information from different organisations to produce a wealth of information which can be used for research purposes. Data linkage is a powerful tool, and researchers are increasingly using the findings of data linkage studies to inform policy and service delivery.

We want to ensure that data linkage research being conducted within the NIHR Maudsley BRC is directed by priorities identified by service users and carers, and that the service user/ carer perspective is considered throughout the research project.

The group will:

  • Act as a point of contact for researchers seeking service user/ carer advice and feedback on research studies using data linkage
  • Promote the service user/ carer perspective in mental health linkage studies
  • Identify and share good practice in service user and carer involvement
  • Build relationships between researchers and service users/ carers when designing studies, preparing grant applications, conducting research, and disseminating findings
  • Help in identifying research priorities

Meetings will be held on a quarterly basis and members will be paid £10 per hour + travel expenses for attending meetings.

We will be holding our next meeting on Thursday 15th September from 4.30-6pm at the Maudsley Hospital; prior to this we will be looking to hold an introductory meeting for new members so you can learn a bit more about what we do.

If you are interested in joining and would like to find out more information please contact Amelia Jewell and Megan Pritchard at amelia.jewell@slam.nhs.uk.
