More than 1000 school students descended on the Hackney Empire for the UK’s largest youth mental health festival, Hussain’s House Live. Hosted by poet Hussain Manawer, the event explored topics such as anxiety, bullying and depression featuring talks and performances by influencers and artists, with King’s College London as the event’s education partner.

Ulrike Schmidt, Professor of Eating Disorders at the IoPPN, has been announced as one of the NHS70 Women Leaders. This recognition award for women leaders in healthcare is in celebration of the NHS turning 70 years old, and 100 years of women’s suffrage. This award was presented by the Women’s Leadership Academy, part of the NHS London Leadership Academy.

Dr Sally Marlow’s new radio series, Storm and Stress: New Ways of Looking at Adolescent Mental Health, begins on BBC Radio 4 on Tuesday 12 June. The series focused on the mental health of 16 - 25 year olds, and features contributions from colleagues from across the NIHR Maudsley BRC, from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King’s and the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
