CogStack wins an Artificial Intelligence in Health and Care Award

Cogstack is an information retrieval, extraction and natural language processing platform developed by researchers at the NIHR Maudsley BRC and King’s College Hospital in partnership with the University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust BRC. This innovative technology uses artificial intelligence to reveal important data locked in patient’s health records to support clinical decision making and healthcare research.

COVID-19 pandemic leads to rapid uptake of remote consultations in mental healthcare

Travel and social distancing restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic are leading to a significant shift in mental healthcare delivery, as clinicians make the switch from predominantly in-person to remote consultations, a study by King’s College London finds.

NEWS2 evaluated for prediction of severe COVID-19 outcome in large international study

In the first systematic large-scale evaluation of the UK National Early Warning Risk Score (NEWS) 2 as a scoring system for predicting severe COVID-19 outcomes in patients, researchers at King’s College London have found poor-to-moderate accuracy for identifying patients at risk of being transferred to intensive care units (ICUs) or dying after 14 days of hospitalisation. Accuracy of predictions in short term (three days) showed moderate success.
